Born in Middletown, Connecticut, Catherine began exhibiting her paintings in high school and won two National Scholastic Art awards when she was 16.

She moved to California and attended Otis Art Institute to study under names such as Joe Magnani and Charles White. She also took workshops with Sergei Bongart. When Catherine moved to Honolulu, Hawaii, she attended the Honolulu Art Academy and University of Hawaii where she studied under Jade Fon, Elmer Bishoff, Paul Wonner and Myra Cantor. She returned to California and received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the Academy of Art College in San Francisco. Today, you will find Catherine working either in her studio in Del Mar, or outdoors painting plein air. Her paintings hang in galleries here and in Connecticut.

As varied as her subject matter is, Catherine’s work always features one unifying theme: dedication to capturing the nuances of light as it transforms objects. Primarily a figurative painter, her work also encompasses landscapes, cityscapes and everyday situations. “When I paint, my concern is to project a specific emotional feeling through color, light and design,” says Catherine.
