Rennie has been drawing and painting scenes from her imagination since childhood. She began selling her work in her parents’ gallery while still in high school. After earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Illustration from California State University, Long Beach, she spent over 20 years as a conceptual designer at Walt Disney Imagineering, Disney’s theme park division.

Rennie considers her imagination coupled with her love of world cultures to be key ingredients in the creation of her work.  Her vibrantly colored acrylic paintings are filled with dense imagery and a variety of complex patterns. Her influences include extensive travel and the folk art she has collected along the way.

“I strive to tell a story with each painting, to communicate something very personal to each viewer, awaken a memory or let them find the artistry in everyday objects. I’ve found that each viewer brings their own special set of experiences with them which informs their understanding of the work. Many times this leads them to interpret the work in a way I didn’t originally intend. That is why art is so endlessly fascinating…it’s such a highly personal experience.”
